I would like to share with you some GREEN cleaning tips. This information was collected from various sources. It is also the base of the cleaning products we use.
Baking soda is mildly abrasive and will scrub without causing scratches. It is a natural deodorizer...not just in the fridge, but also on carpets.
Lemon jucie is a natural deodorant and it also has a slight bleaching effect. It will remove stains from clothing, aluminum, and porcelain. If you mix it with salt it will remove silver tarnish.
Vinegar will cut grease and remove soap scum. It kills mold and mildew. It is great for linoleum or hardwood floors. It leaves no residue behind.

Chorine bleach contains sodium hypochlorite. This is a eye and lung irritant. If it is mixed with either ammonia or acid based cleaning products it releases a very toxic chloramine gas.
Ammonia is commonly used in glass cleaners. It is a skin and lung irritant. If ammonia is mixed with chlorine bleach it releases a toxic gas.
Some disinfectants contain phenol and cresol wich are corrosive. Excessive exposure can cause fainting, dizziness, and diarrhea.
Some polishes contain nitrobengene. Exposure can cause vomiting.

Replace paraffin candles, which are made from crude oil, with cleaner burning beeswax or soy candles.
Select biodegradable bags or those made with at least 65% recycled content.

Buy prepared basics or mix your own using common ingredients.
Flannel cloths, for dusting or wet cleaning, can be washed and re-used.

Green cleaning is a way of cleaning that helps to protect your health and your environment. Current products are not necessarily bad, but newer processes and technologies make it possible to clean effectively, efficiently, and with much less impact on your health and your environment.
